MONTGOMERY — By the summer of 2011, residents in telephone area code 256 may have to dial 10 digits when they make a local call, even if the number is to the house next door.

MONTGOMERY — The Alabama Public Service Commission is reminding residents in the 256 area code in north and east Alabama that the area code and seven-digit phone number must be dialed starting June 5.
