Business owners said that a Supreme Court ruling on Friday striking down sweeping U.S. tariffs could spell relief by lowering their costs and potentially leading to refunds.

Donald Trump’s global tariffs are illegal, the Supreme Court ruled Friday, in a stinging repudiation of a signature White House initiative.

He said the levy would be introduced under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, which grants the president authority to impose temporary trade measures to address balance-of-payments problems.
